I wanted to create a fun comfortable room for teens of all ages to relax, watch TV, play and listen to music. Friends frequently sleep over and I designed a moveable window seat to store bedding while complementing interior architecture. Simple roman blinds provide warmth and blackout. Corner radiators replaced wall radiators giving a sculptural effect whilst taking up minimal, wall space.
Clutter was organised by improving storage-providing free-standing shelving and a place for a flat-screen. A focal point was created by making a feature of the fireplace.
The room was modernised whilst enhancing the architectural features.
This unit in a converted waterside warehouse was taken on as an empty shell. The space has a dual function –live and design studio and I wanted to create an intimate seating/conversation area while retaining the open expansive feel.
The Open Plan space was maintained with partitions for Utility and Wet Room only. The rectilinear shape of the mezzanine was reflected in the design of the space. All important storage space was designed above- accessed from the mezzanine.
A floor-plan and lighting plan determined the placement of wiring before under-floor heating and concrete floor was laid. Floor lights and colour are used to feature the supportive mezzanine columns. The old exposed brick was complemented with paint colours used in blocks enhancing and highlighting the sculptural metal staircase.
This was a small north-facing dining room in a pretty though cluttered Victorian house. The client was encouraged to undertake a major clearing out. A stylish bright wallpaper was chosen to set off existing antiques, resulting in a delightful, bright room.
A Limestone bowl is placed simply over a solid wood console. Wall lights flank recessed mirrored storage. Shaver point is hidden in the storage.
The kitchen in this open plan area was designed to serve also as a social area – the extra wide curved granite top softening the design and forming the perfect bar/informal meal area.
We selected a traditional treatment to complement existing formal seating, A gently curving pelmet trimmed with glass bead is used to tie in 2 different windows, Inspiration for the pelmet was taken from the external arch capping the veranda.
In this hall we wanted to create a window covering which would enhance the stained glass window over an elegant staircase yet overlooked from a busy road. A vibrant green roller blind was used for privacy and sheers to soften the effect. Finished with a green crystal tie-back.
